MINUTE entry before the Honorable Jeannice W. Appenteng: The Court has reviewed the parties' filings regarding the feasibility of a remote deposition in Hong Kong [108] , [109] . The parties still disagree over whether a remote deposition can proceed in Hong Kong, but defendant offers Macau as an alternative location and plaintiff offers Singapore as an alternative location. By 2/17/2025, the parties shall meet and confer on the remote deposition location and file a joint status report indicating whether the parties have reached an agreement or remain at an impasse. If the parties agree to a location, they shall include when the deposition is scheduled for in their joint status report. If the parties do not reach an agreement, the Court is prepared to select a location for the parties. See New Medium Tech. LLC v. Barco N.V., 242 F.R.D. 460 (N.D. Ill. 2007) ("Courts have broad discretion in selecting the locale for a deposition."). Finally, in the 2/17/2025 status report, the parties shall indicate whether any additional discovery remains.
